Wills & Legacies

A legacy is a gift made to The Heart Research Institute (UK) through a Will. Surprisingly, a good many people don't have a Will, although every adult should.

Through careful planning, more of your lifetime accumulated assets can go to those individuals and institutions that have been important in your life.

By leaving a legacy to The Heart Research Institute you are assured that you are contributing greatly to the Institute's research, which aims to diagnose, prevent and cure heart disease - the World's Number One Killer!

Your gift to The Heart Research Institute (UK) (HRIUK) can be in the form of:

  • Money
  • Shares
  • Land and property
  • Making HRI a designated beneficiary of a life assurance policy
  • Most other fixed type assets

A legacy in your Will, which could take the form of a percentage of your Estate, is a most important and lasting way of helping ensure that The Heart Research Institute continues its vital work.

If you decide to leave a legacy to The Heart Research Institute the correct wording follows:

"I GIVE to The Heart Research Institute (UK), Registered Charity No. 1116918, Company Registration Number 5935975, (the whole) or (a specific sum or piece of property) or (the residue) of my estate free of all duties for its general purposes and a receipt from the treasurer or other authorised person shall be a complete and sufficient discharge for the executor"

By advising us that you have left a gift in your will you automatically become a valued member of The Heart Research Institute's Missenden Society.

Members of the Missenden Society will be:

  • Recognised in the Annual Report
  • Recognised on the Honour Board within The Heart Research Institute

The commitment of the Missenden Society to The Heart Research Institute's research into heart disease not only acts as a stimulus for others to follow, but also as a memorial for family descendents and future generations. In this way their commitment, regardless of size, will always be remembered.

However, should you wish to remain anonymous, your wish will be respected.
