A printer that builds beating 3D hearts in a laboratory could soon be saving the lives of heart attack patients if a pioneering Australian trial proves successful. The Heart Research Institute has bought a 3D bio-printer to engineer human heart tissue that can be stuck directly to a damaged organ following an attack.

I love rocky road! I only ever make it at Christmas! One year, I created one with raspberry jelly lollies, marshmallows, crushed clinkers and roasted/salted peanuts. It was delicious but so sweet. I don’t mind a lolly or two sporadically, especially at Christmas, but these days I prefer my sweet treats to be a little more wholesome.

Pedalling for a purpose: crew cycle 'across' Atlantic Ocean

An ambitious crew are attempting to cycle across the Atlantic Ocean to raise funds for the Heart Research Institute.The 12-person crew will take turns on a stationary bike in order to pedal their way from the Netherlands to the island of St. Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean, a total of 4,736 nautical miles (8,771 kilometres).
