HRI's Dr Katrina Chau has been awarded Best Scientific Presentation at the 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting held by the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ) in conjunction with the Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society (ADIPS).
Today is World Health Day, a global health awareness day held annually on April 7.
Each year attention is drawn to a different global health issue with this year being diabetes.
Preeclampsia is a disease of high blood pressure during pregnancy, affecting around 3-5% of all pregnancies. It is life-threatening for both mother and the unborn child. Our scientists investigate that mothers with a history of preeclampsia have around double the risk of heart disease later in life.
