HRI’s Dr Lining (Arnold) Ju has been awarded a Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship as well as the Heart Foundation Paul Korner Innovation Award.

HRI’s Dr Renuka Shanmugalingam recently received the SOMANZ Andrew Phippard Memorial Award for best scientific research oral presentation.

To celebrate World Thrombosis Day, HRI’s Thrombosis and Haematology Research Groups did their part to raise awareness of thrombosis – a leading factor in heart attacks and stroke.

Dr Anna Waterhouse delivered the prestigious keynote lecture ‘Biomimicry in blood-contacting medical devices’, presenting the problem of thrombosis, fibrosis and microbe biofouling with blood-contacting medical devices, highlighting that relying on drugs to solve medical device problems results in increased risks of adverse events for patients.
