Biography
Dr Renping Liu is a Research Officer at the Heart Research Institute, working under the mentorship of Professor Julie McMullen. Her research centres on preclinical animal models of cardiac disease, with a strong focus on sex-based differences in disease manifestation and progression.
Renping has expertise in the development and characterisation of animal models and employs advanced mass spectrometry techniques to investigate molecular mechanisms driving cardiovascular disease. Her current work is exploring organ crosstalk in the context of heart failure, aiming to uncover how systemic interactions between organs contribute to diseases pathophysiology and to identify novel molecular pathways involved in disease progression.
By integrating multi-omics data with experimental models, Renping seeks to bridge the translational gap between clinical observations and preclinical research – particularly in populations that are historically underrepresented in cardiovascular studies.
In addition to her research, Renping is actively involved in the cardiovascular research community. She serves as a member of the NSW CVRN Rising Stars Sub-Committee (2025) and is the Chair of the EMCR Organising Committee for the Sydney Cardiovascular Symposium 2025.
