Project overview
Microvascular Research Group lab is uncovering how protein kinase G1α (PKG1α), a key regulator of blood pressure and heart contraction, can be switched on in a completely new way—through oxidation. This unusual activation plays a major role in sepsis, where blood pressure drops to dangerous levels. We’re now exploring how oxidised PKG1α signals inside cells, aiming to reveal new therapeutic targets for septic shock. As part of this project, you’ll gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge techniques including arterial physiology, electrophysiology, pharmacology, redox biology, and live calcium imaging.
