HRI collaborates with Fitness Passport to champion heart health education

Posted 27th February, 2026

The Heart Research Institute (HRI) is proud to have collaborated with Fitness Passport — a corporate health and fitness program with more than 200,000 members nationwide and partnerships with over 1,700 fitness facilities across Australia — during Heart Health Month in February.

Fitness Passport regularly hosts a series of Wellbeing Webinars that explore different topics in health and wellbeing, featuring insights from a range of experts. HRI was invited to contribute to this series, delivering a curated ‘Healthy Heart’ session for Fitness Passport's network of partner organisations. The session proved to be one of Fitness Passport's highest-rated webinars, shining a spotlight on heart health, practical strategies for caring for your heart, and the innovative cardiovascular research being conducted at HRI.

The webinar was presented by Andrea Natoli, Head of Gifts in Wills and Planned Giving at HRI, who brings a wealth of experience spanning medical devices, pharmaceuticals, community nursing, aged care and the NDIS sector. A practising legal practitioner and member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia, Andrea delivered clear, research-informed guidance on some of today's most pressing heart health questions — including key risk factors for cardiovascular disease, the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest, early warning signs, and practical steps people can take to protect their heart health.

The numbers speak for themselves: the webinar attracted 12,200 page views to its dedicated registration landing page, 2,950 registrations, and 757 members attended live. Post-event feedback was overwhelmingly positive - 62.5 per cent of attendees said they would recommend the webinar to a colleague, 75 per cent gained practical insights into how to care for their heart, and 75 per cent found the content relevant or highly relevant.

Founded in 1989, HRI is an internationally recognised medical research organisation dedicated to advancing cardiovascular science and improving heart health outcomes for all Australians. This collaboration reflects the strong alignment of purpose between the two organisations — combining HRI's world-class research expertise with Fitness Passport's reach across thousands of workplaces nationwide, in support of healthier communities through education, prevention, and evidence-based research.

In a show of support for HRI's mission, Fitness Passport also made a donation to the Institute following the event. Discussions are already underway for future collaborations, with more initiatives expected to be announced in the coming months.
